There are a number of factors that should be considered when evaluating which system is most suitable for your organization. The following table compares some key characteristics of Multi Analytical Workstation and Multi Analytical Client/Server systems:

  Client/Server Workstation
Number of users Unlimited Unlimited
Points of access Unlimited Single
System Server and client PCs Single PC
Shared resources Database None
Standard Database Microsoft SQL Server/Microsoft Access Microsoft Access
Web Server Internet Information Server Internet Information Server
Cost per user (note 1) $950 to $195 per concurrent user $395 per system

- Users of Multi Analytical Client/Server deploy an enterprise based system. A computer acts as the server, and centralizes maintenance and administrative activities. Client machines use the TCP/IP protocol to connect over the network. Program licenses are metered dynamically, allowing to install and run the software on a larger number of clients than the licenses acquired. The server safely handle concurrent access to shared resources through resource locking.

- Multi Analytical Workstation runs on a stand-alone system, whether connected to a network or not. A Workstation system places no locks on resources, and concurrent access is not guaranteed to be safe.

Note 1: Prices may vary and are given only as an example. Client/Server minimum number of users apply. All products include one year product upgrades and one year technical support via e-mail. Multi Analytical and Data Viewer include Microsoft Access run-time license. Discount programs are available for academic/education.
